Choosing the most expensive option without medical need can lead to reduction or denial. A family ride, taxi, or rideshare may be more reasonable for routine appointments.
Document Each Trip Clearly
Maintain the date, provider, address, purpose, miles or fare, parking, tolls, and receipt. A calendar paired with appointment records is more useful than estimating months of travel at the end.
If a family member provides transportation, ask the carrier whether mileage or another allowance is recognized. Do not invent a cash charge that was never paid.
Confirm the Submission Procedure
Some carriers use reimbursement forms and mileage rates. Others require bills from licensed transport providers. Policy limits, deductibles, and the medical-benefit ledger may affect payment.
